An interesting hypothesis as to why we see French on produce! My theory has been that it is a matter of adding prestige/fanciness to a brand's image, in the same way that Japan uses "decorative English" on many Japanese products. There could be some structural racism in how many US products are labeled in French rather than Spanish, considering that our two neighboring countries speak each language and there are significantly more Spanish speakers here, but the Canadian laws about prepackaged foods is a very good alternative theory.

Whatabout a simple explanation

A large segment of Canadian population and territory speaks French.

All this companies sell,ship product to not only to the US,but to Canada also.
